A National Girls' Empowerment Network Created by PCVs in Mozambique

REDES Featured on Peace Corps Webpage May 7, 2011

REDES groups received international attention last week when Peace Corps made a press release about the Mozambican Women’s Day festivities organized by Scooter Anata Walsh of Urbana, Ill., and Ann Davis of Glenview, Ill.

REDES groups throughout Mozambique celebrated Mozambican Women’s Day with a variety of activities including theater performances, poetry readings, songs, information sessions, and dancing.

The release highlighted the goals and achievements of REDES both on the national and local levels. The inter-group exchanges that are currently in progress throughout the country were a key focal point.
